2015 Carnaval SF King & Queen Competition

Held Saturday, March 28  7pm 

Hope you were there on Saturday as we selected the 2015 Carnaval SF King & Queen. A sold out house witnessed an exciting presentation that in the end resulted in a new Carnaval SF King and Queen. The winners of the competition will be the hosts, as King and Queen, of the 37th Annual Carnaval San Francisco Parade and Festival held on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 23 to May 24, 2015. Contest winners will serve as the Official Ambassadors at the Carnaval San Francisco Grand Parade and  a $500 cash prize! Thank you to  outgoing King Delvis Savigne Frigñon & Queen Valencia Newton for a wonderful 2014!

King R. Jefferson Joseph 

Jefferson has studied and performed Afro-Brazilian folklore with Tania Santiago, Afro-Brazilian Contemporary with Paco Gomes, and Cuban Contemporary with Ramon Ramos Alayo. He 2014 he traveled to Brazil with Tania Santiago and performed in Carnaval in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He will be partnering with Tiombe Valone.
 

Queen Rosa Maya Mohr

Fogo Na Roupa
Rosa was adopted at age six from Brazil and her Carnaval experience began in 1999 when she first walked into Fogo Na Ropa's class at the Malonga Casquelourd Center. She has also danced with Ruben Aponte, Queen Maisa Duke, and performed at Miss Latina USA.
