Join BACCE and guest host Black Benatar for an irreverent racial romp that skewers ally-ship between hot black and queer performers from circus arts to comedy. Featuring acro-dancers Toni Cannon and Yuko Hata, comedian Baruch Porras-Hernandez, and cellist Maria Dávid.
Between acts, host Black Benatar and her reparations intern delight audiences with drag numbers and magic tricks and makes them squirm with a healthy dose a racial edging. Black Benatar’s Black Magic Cabaret is like children’s show for adults who want to be better people.

ARTISTS
Mx. Beatrice Thomas is a queer multidisciplinary artist/performer & film & theater director, who comes from a family lineage of pastors, performers, doctors and healers. Beatrice has been pondering the meaning of things and making art from the moment they came into consciousness. From absurdist cabarets to vampire/witch love triangles,Thomas weaves the experiences of queers and people of color into magical realities with strong critical commentary, comedic satire and media rich production. A maker of objects, installations and theater, Mx. Thomas reveals, revises and constructs alternate realities. They use the artifice of drag to inhabit Black Benatar, an exaggerated black femme alter ego creature that challenges blackness, whiteness, oppression & convention. Thomas is a featured drag queen for RADAR Productions “Drag Queen Story Hour” a program that brings drag queens to read stories at public libraries. Beatrice’s work has graced the stages of the deYoung Museum, SF PRIDE Mainstage, CounterPulse, SOMArts Cultural Center and the Institute of Advanced Uncertainty and has shown in galleries across the United States. Thomas works nationally consulting and advocating for equity and the inclusion of queer arts on national mainstream stages.
Toni Cannon
Tony Cannon made his debut on the stage six years ago with Topsy Turvy queer circus, and loved every moment of it. He has also worked with others like Acrosanct in there show this is Acrosanct, Body waves, and Americas got Talent finalist Abigail Baird with her company Arieal Animations. He loves acrobatics, and recently found a new love for pole. He really finds the challenge of performing and training thrilling, and would like to thank his family and friends for there support over the years.
Yuko Hata

Yuko Hata started rhythmic gymnastics at age 10 and dance at age 15. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the Japan Women's College of physical Education. After graduation, she joined the Shiki Theater Company where she performed The Lion King more than 300 times. In 2009, Yuko joined the San Francisco Circus Center "professional Aerial program". In 2014 She started her contortion training with serchmaa Byamba. She has performed with Labayen Dance/SF, Copious Dance Theater, Circus Automatic, Capacitor, Acrobatic conundrum. Yuko is an artist in the Cirque Eloize database.
Baruch Porras Hernandez is a writer, performer, and author of two small poetry collections from Sibling Rivalry Press. He is an immigrant from Toluca, Mexico. He lives in San Francisco, and has performed all over North America, from fancy theatres and cabaret venues, to dive bars, strip clubs and dark damp caves.

Black Artists Contemporary Cultural Experience commemorates, celebrates and cultivates the phenomenal Black Art scene in San Francisco as we take over Brava’s Cabaret with the So Soul San Francisco: Black Art Salon Series. In the tradition of our forerunner – the legendary Sugar Shack Performance Gallery – BACCE unleashes Black Art in a series of storefront performances, food, fun and fashion on third Thursdays in 2019. We will hold space for new performances and conversations in the casual setting of art salon. With fabulous guest hosts and loads of fun and surprises, we are inviting the community to enjoy and share the tremendous artistic output of some of the Bay Area’s established and upcoming artists.
