Burning Wild: A Community Listening Circle about Disaster, Place, and the California Wildfires
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2020
2:30PM - 4:00PM PST
Presented in partnership with FoolsFURY and Theatre Without Borders
Extraordinary mega-fires, heat waves, evacuations, rolling power outages and smoky air have become a salient feature of life in California and the Western United States. Waking up to an apocalyptic orange sky in San Francisco is no longer unusual. The wildfires have devastated lives, homes, wildlife and forests, endangering our communities and artists. We are developing a new sense of disaster resilience. As artists who form a ‘third line’ of defense in crisis-management, it is up to us to empower ourselves and our communities through art. Our survival and our art depend on this.
Disaster is affecting us all. Through the lens of the recent wildfires, we call the community in to honor, mourn, and pause together.
