The San Francisco PornFilmFestival showcases the creativity and craft of adult filmmaking from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The festival’s 2021 edition stars two action-packed days at the historic Brava Center for Women in the Arts, a renovated 1920s theater located in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District. San Francisco broke ground as the first city in the United States to host a public screening of hardcore sex, with the International Erotic Film Festival at the Presidio Theatre in 1970. Topics of sexual rights and free speech are as important now as they were half a century ago. The festival honors our city’s cinematic lineage and progressive sexual politics.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

SEX/SCENE
Thursday, November 11, 4pm
From sex between exes and fantasy worlds made of rubber to sex rituals and COVID-safe solos, these short films span the wide range of what sex looks like on camera.

SAFE IS DESIRE
Thursday, November 11, 7pm
When Nan Kinney started producing lesbian porn in the mid-80's, there was no such thing as porn made by and for women. Porn was a dirty word. Now the industry is burgeoning with independent, women-made porn companies. Kinney's driving passion set the standard for women in the industry and encouraged other women to make it their own. Thanks to Outfest UCLA Legacy Project for LGBT Moving Image Preservation for providing access to the original master from which this new HD digital file was created. Join us with special guest Nan Kinney of Fatale Media.

REEL/SEX
Friday, November 12, 4pm
These short documentary films focus on sexuality and tackle serious subject matter with power and prose. From sexual shame, survivor sex, isolation to representation of disability and capturing the lost art of cruising.

FORBIDDEN LETTERS
Friday, November 12, 7pm
One of the most romantic and cinematically sophisticated gay adult dramas of all time, this remarkable lost classic stars the legendary gay adult actor and AIDS activist Richard Locke and novice performer Robert Adams. Unavailable since it’s initial release forty years ago, Arthur J. Bressan, Jr.’s Forbidden Letters has been digitally restored in a beautiful new 2K scan through a partnership with The Bressan Project, the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project and esteemed Blu-ray distributor, Vinegar Syndrome. Join us with special guests, Robert Adams star of Forbidden Letters, and LGBTQ film historian Jenni Olson, founder of The Bressan Project.
