Creative Rituals to Rekindle Beauty with Vidhu Singh, PhD

2 - 5 pm in Brava’s Cabaret

*We have art supplies, you are welcome to bring any additional materials you need. Stay well. Masks recommended.

In these sessions you will cultivate your unique creative expression through visual journaling, collage, poetry and expressive writing to deepen self-discovery and personal growth.


Sessions

Visual journaling is a powerful tool for inner exploration through words and images. Participants are welcome to register for one or both sessions as a series.

February 18, 2024, 2 - 5 pm: Visual Journaling Session 1
February 25, 2024, 2 - 5 pm: Visual Journaling Session 2 

Guidelines

Cultivating a safe environment to be able to be free in our creative expression and to share and witness each other’s work.

This is a golden opportunity for creative exploration!
All are welcome, no skill or experience necessary.


Suggested Materials:

a notebook and pen, watercolor/sketchbook/journal to draw on (such as an A4 size), watercolors/coloring pencils/markers (Posca pens are great, Zebra pens are affordable!), a few magazines/some cut out images you love such as images of nature, animals, art, mythology, perhaps a photocopy of your child/present self.
*Please bring whatever is easily accessible. We can offer some materials for participants.

Important Note

Vidhu Singh is trained to facilitate Expressive Arts sessions. She is not a licensed therapist and each participant is responsible for their mental health and well-being. If you are dealing with issues beyond the scope of the session, please reach out to her in advance via Brava at info@brava.org.

Health & Safety Policy

Please follow covid health and safety guidelines and do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms. We suggest doing a covid antigen test prior to the session if you can, and wearing a mask if you need.


Suggested contribution:

$25/session + fees

*No one turned away, but please contact us in advance due to very limited capacity.
Capacity: 8-14 participants
On-site registration: 1:50 - 2 pm only

*Sessions are 2.5 hours long, plus 15 minutes to put away supplies.

About Vidhu Singh

Vidhu is an Expressive Arts Facilitator trained at Northwest Creative & Expressive Arts Institute and a Social Emotional Arts Facilitator trained through UCLA’s Arts & Healing Initiative. She is currently training as a Visual Journaling Facilitator using the SoulPages® method.

Vidhu holds a Masters degree in Dramatic Art from UC Santa Barbara and a doctorate in Asian Theatre from UH Manoa. A graduate of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors’ Lab, Vidhu is a core member of Theatre without Borders; a founding member of World Wide Lab; the founder of RasaNova Theater; an ensemble member at Aviva Arts; a wellness facilitator with Bauman Wellness and a resident artist at Brava Theater.

As a theater artist, Vidhu’s fluency in a variety of cultural and aesthetic forms, her dramaturgy, her scholarship and her advocacy for South Asian theater have made her contribution to the American theater unique. Cal Shakes recognized this uniqueness by honoring Vidhu with the 2020 Luminary Award in dramaturgy.
