THEYFRIEND: 2021 Nonbinary Performance Festival

STREAMING ON DEMAND

November 30, 2021 through December 6, 2021

THEYFRIEND is the world’s first nonbinary performance festival uplifting and supporting nonbinary performing artists! A recorded version of THEYFRIEND will be available to stream on demand from November 30, 2021 until December 6, 2021.

The stream will include ASL interpretation, which was recorded as part of the live event.

Digital Program

This year’s festival features newly commissioned work by three Bay Area nonbinary performers:

Edgar Fabián Frías is a nonbinary, queer, indigenous (Wixárika), and Latinx, multidisciplinary artist, curator, educator, and psychotherapist.

LOTUS BOY is a gender-deconstructing, binary-defying, disabled Chinese-American drag king.

Peekaboo aka transcriptions01 is a cellist and aspiring ethnomusicologist researching the diaspora of ancestral filipin(o/a/x)/latinx lineages, soundscoring memories of love and heartbreak while simultaneously activating forms of healing.

THEYFRIEND will be hosted by Kevin Seaman and will also feature appearances from national nonbinary performers.
