Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Los Siete, Brava is pleased to present the world premiere of Vero Majano’s Remember Los Siete.
In 1969, seven Central American young men were accused of killing a white police officer in San Francisco’s Mission district. Latino youth organized to free Los Siete and a movement flourished.
In Remember Los Siete, Majano, a born and raised Mission artist, weaves her personal story into her exploration into these seven men’s lives. Using rare archival 16mm footage, music performance and personal narration, Majano creates a live cinema experience that asks the question: Does “all power to the people” include forgiveness?

Join Acción Latina for an art exhibition and series of talks on the movement aesthetics and cultural resistance of Yolanda M. Lopez, Donna James Amador, the Basta! Ya! and the Los Siete Defense Committee.

Los Siete de la Raza Bicycle History Tour
With Bicis del Pueblo/PODER SF and Shaping San Francisco
Explore the sites where a creative and militant social movement response took hold after police arrested six young Latino men for the May 1, 1969 murder of an undercover cop on Alvarado Street. Trace the history of the mobilization, the sites where newspapers, health clinics, and more were produced.
Tour ends at 2 pm at Accíon Latina exhibit, with plática.
Helmets required for under 18. Bring your own bike & water. Moderate paced ride for all ages. Bilingual Spanish/English
