Weaving Spirits’s fourth year is co-presented by QCC as part of the Fall NQAF Festival This year’s festival responds to ecological and societal wildfires. Fire allows us to imagine what needs to be ignited, cleansed and turned into ashes.

We celebrate the many sparks of two-spirit creativity and anti-colonial resistance popping off throughout the Bay. The Mission’s iconic Brava theater hosts this year’s festival within SF’s first American Indian Cultural District. Broadening our perspective on fire beyond California’s landscape, we connect across Turtle Island all the way to Brazil and Gaza.

This year’s festival theme is “Seeding Native Fires.”

Fire teaches us to transform. California Natives and Indigenous peoples across the world tend to and co-evolve with their local Native species, some of whom need fire in order to birth. Indigenous creatives must listen deeply to, and speak up for the many relatives who are unseen and unheard today.  Witness how our traditional knowledge and ancestral connection strengthens our movements and collective future.
