Fall Course Outline: Fractured Fairytales and ReMixed Myths

In this process-based program, students will use well-known folklore, myths and fairytales to create an original adventure story that represents their own lived experiences. This could be one long story or a series of smaller scenes and vignettes. Through this work, they will explore creative storytelling techniques, character analysis, and basic voice and movement skills. In the first few classes, students will develop their ensemble with group building exercises and improv games. Then they will bring in popular fairytales and pull out characters and plot points that follow an agreed upon theme. Their newly devised work will feature a fun musical opening and closing number that will introduce them to the basic fundamentals of singing and dancing in preparation for the spring musical.

YTTL classes are open to students ages 12-17 and are free of charge.
