The New Roots Theatre Festival is an arts festival that celebrates the development of new work and centers BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ voices.
This free writing and performance workshop series invites immigrant storytellers of different backgrounds to explore their immigration stories and use storytelling as a method to activate individual and collective cultural power. Participants will explore the tension between the personal and the political through a process of inquiry and self-reflection to write and perform their personal narratives (2-3 minutes) at the culminating community performance on December 7, 2024 from 4-6pm at Brava Theater Center, Studio Space.
Warango is a musical project born in the city of Oakland, California, based in Afro-Peruvian musical roots and anchored in the strong presence of Afro-Peruvian percussion: Cajon, Cajita and Quijada de Burro (donkey's jawbone); instruments that are part of the resistance history of African descendants in Peru.

With more resources going to pay bills, Brava needs to raise $50,000 over the summer to continue providing the highest quality of inspirational performances, support for the Artists, free and low-cost Youth Programs, and subsidies for the Community to host events at Brava.
On the morning of June 9th, 2023– Brava had the honor of being presented with local, state, and national honors, and the Leadership Peacemaker Award from Community Boards, a non-profit conflict resolution and restorative justice center.
