SF Noir at the Brava: "The Other Barrio" Fundraiser

Sunday, December 9, 2012
7:30PM

Join the cast and crew for an evening of fundraising, Noir costumes, film clips and the best of SF edgy entertainment to raise funds for the production completion of "The Other Barrio" feature film.

Shot on location in San Francisco, "The Other Barrio" (based on the short story by SF Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia) tells the story of Latino investigator Roberto Morales (Richard Montoya) who, as he investigates the suspicious circumstances of a fatal fire in a residential hotel in the Mission, finds himself face to face with corruption at City Hall and a beautiful flame (Veronica Valencia) from his past. This is SF Noir at its best, a tale of greed, murder, corruption and justice.

The event features Richard Montoya, actor, playwright, filmmaker and Culture Clash member, just back from presenting his critically acclaimed play “American Night” at the Yale Rep and director of his own independent Noir film “Water and Power”; Veronica Valencia, actress, model, singer and “The Other Barrio” femme fatale; Lulu, sensational Latino drag queen and performer direct from the Esta Noche nightclub; Philip Gotanda, playwright and filmmaker; "Barrio" Actors Brian Patterson and Vincent Calvarese; with special appearances by award winning, Latin jazz great trumpeter Jerry Gonzalez and San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia.
