Brava Studio Sessions returns Tuesday, October 18 – 7pm, with a reading of El Niño by Javier Hurtado.
El Niño tells the story of a son and his mother left to confront the ghost of the family patriarch, Don Alverez, after his death. While alive, Don Alverez was an immense asset to his community; and now, after his passing, his widow Elena is working tirelessly to erect a youth center in his honor in an effort to ensure her husband’s legacy is memorialized. On the eve of the center’s dedication, a storm brews, threatening to interrupt the ceremony. While contending with the storm, mother and son must reconcile the sins of the father before all is washed away.
