Spotlight on Brava's Artists In Residence

Brava’s Artist in Residence program supports the professional development and creative work of directors, actors, dancers, musicians, visual artists, and designers, providing space for creation, assistance with grant writing and fiscal sponsorship, and the support of Brava's marketing and technical staff. In April, Brava welcomed two new artists to our family: Gayle Romasanta and Bryan Pangilinan. Composers, musicians, and performers (just to name a few of their talents), Romasanta and Pangilinan are currently working on the creation of their latest project, Itliong, a rich and complex musical about labor leader Larry Itliong and the Filipinos who started the Delano Grape Strike. Merging American music genres from the 1930s-1970s with traditional Philippine instruments, creating a modern take on a significant moment in American history, Romasanta and Pangilinan believe Itliong will leave audiences with a deeper understanding of where we came from and how far we can go, together

We're excited to be developing this project with these two amazing artists, and look forward to sharing their work along the way! Stay tuned!
